What is Rotaract

Rotaract clubs organize a variety of projects and activities, depending primarily on the interests of the club members. However, within the Rotaract program, all clubs undertake three types of activities in varying degrees: professional development, leadership development, and service projects. Together, these three areas ensure a balanced club program and provide important experience and opportunities for the personal development of each Rotaractor.

History of Rotaract

Rotaract groups have established themselves throughout the world as a result of an international programme organised by Rotary International for 18-30 year olds in 1968. Young people could approach Rotary clubs and ask for sponsorship and funding to continue their studies abroad.

While young people were offered the opportunity by Rotary they got a chance to see what Rotary club did - and with this in mind young people set about establishing groups linked with Rotary that had the same values and ideals, yet was only for those aged between 18-30. A stepping stone to Rotary.

There are now over 8,200 Rotaract club spread around the world and this number is continuously growing.
